USA Volleyball Club
Aurora Volleyball Club is beginning its 2nd USA Volleyball season this year. We started this club because of the number of athletes in the area that have a desire to improve their volleyball skills in the off season. We intend to grow this year by adding more teams and provide additional benifits to our club members.
Our Philosphy
Besides improving the fundemental skills in each athlete, the AVC emphasizes on competition. Learning volleyball skills is only half the battle in maximizing an athlete's potential. Teamwork, knowing how to be competitive and possessing a desire to play your best every game is just as important.
Staff Experience
All of our staff not only coach at various levels but have also played the game competitively either at the high school or college levels. A few of the coaches also play USA Volleyball at the adult level. This allows the coaching staff to share thier competition experience as a player and a coach.
Cost
AVC will cost $800 per player to join. (12 Year olds - Cost is $600) This cost goes to cover gym expenses, coach reimbursement, and administrative fees. The following is included in the price and will be provided to each player to use and to keep:
- Numbered Uniform Jersey
- USA Volleyball Registration
- Paid Tournament Fees for approximately 6-8 tournaments
- Subsidized Strength Training
Practices and Tournaments
Practices will be held twice a week beginning in January. ( A Practice schedule will be created and will be published once finalized.) Practices will be held at the Edge Sports Performance Aceademy in Twinsburg and at Aurora High School.
The tournament season runs approximately Febraury through May. Our intent is to enter between 6 and 8 tournaments. We will try our best to select tournaments local to the Cleveland/Akron areas to minimize travel. The regional tournament at the end of the season will be held in Columbus in May. Parents are responsible for getting their child to practices and tournaments.
Teams and Team Sizes
AVC will have multiple 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 year old teams. Each team will consist of 8-10 players.
Important: OHSAA eligibility restricts the number of girls from the same school's volleyball team to 3 for any one team. There can only be 3 girls maximum from the same school team roster per club team.
Is AVC the right club for you?
To play for any JO club requires that you love volleyball. Once
tournaments begin, you'll be spending all of one of your weekend days at
a tournament and several hours of a weekday at practice. We started
this club because we love volleyball and wanted to give girls who feel
the same way a chance to play.
JO volleyball is competitive and part of playing for this club is
learning how to compete. Because volleyball transitions so quickly from
offense to defense in such a small court, it requires tremendous mental
discipline. Developing the mental skills to be a competitor should be
one of your goals if this is the right club for you.
We take great pride in developing skills. We expect all of all our
athletes to return to their school teams much better than they were at
the end of the school season. We believe that players should learn all
the positions on the court to prepare them for any opportunity. If your
attitude is that I can be better tomorrow than I am today, then this
could be the right club for you.
We believe volleyball is fun. When the fun is gone, something is wrong.
When our coaches review their practice, they don't just ask if the team
improved, they ask if the team had fun. If working hard to improve your
volleyball skills is fun, if competing with the best players in the
region is fun, and you love volleyball, then this is your club.
For Parents New to USA VolleyballJO volleyball is a big commitment for you and your player. Make sure the
club you choose is the right one for both of you. Some clubs are focused
on having the best possible teams from their area to compete on a
national level. Other clubs focus on regional success and others still
are looking to just get out and play a lot of matches.
Our focus is providing and opportunity for girls in the local
communities to grow as players and compete in the local area. We try to
attend tournaments that are not more than two hours away so you don't
have to travel the night before. The exception to this is regional
tournament in Columbus at the end of the season. This competition is
well worth the trip because it provides the most evenly matched teams of
any tournament.
The JO season is more than twice as long as the school season. Practice
is later in the evening and on the weekends. While less frequent than
the school practice schedule, it tends to impact the rest of your life
more and for much longer. Keep in mind that it is this much longer time
that allows your player to grow. There is more practice time and match
time during the JO season than there is during the school season. Club
play is essential for success on school teams.
